Construction Begins on Tisi–Lauru Valley Jacobs Ladder Project
WORK has officially commenced on the Tisi-Lauru Valley Jacobs Ladder sub-project in Gizo, marking another important step in improving safe and reliable community access infrastructure under the Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement II (CAUSE II) Project.
The project kicked off on Friday, 15 May 2026, and will involve the construction of a 162-metre access structure inclusive of Footpath, Jacobs Ladder, and Footbridge sections.
A total of 20 workers has been engaged to carry out these works, providing short-term employment opportunities for local community members while delivering much-needed infrastructure improvements.
Once completed, the sub-project is expected to directly benefit an estimated population of 132 people living within the surrounding communities.
Construction is expected to take approximately 44 days to complete.
The CAUSE II Project continues to support community-driven infrastructure initiatives that improve accessibility, connectivity, and livelihoods for vulnerable communities across Solomon Islands.
CAUSE II, implemented by the Solomon Islands Government, is supported by the World Bank and the Australian Government through the PNG and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
