ONE Project, REAL Progress, BRIGHTER Communities
GUADALCANAL PROVINCE, Solomon Islands — TWO LED solar streetlights have been installed at Reilonga SDA Primary School in Verahoai Community, Kakabona, as work progresses on a community lighting sub-project covering Kakabona and Veraboli in Tandai Ward, Guadalcanal Province.
The installation at Kakabona marked the first stage of works involving five solar lighting systems, with the remaining three scheduled for installation at Veraboli.
The works include site preparation, excavation and construction of concrete footings, installation of poles, fitting the solar lighting systems and testing the lights.
With the installation of the remaining three lights at Veraboli this week, the sub-project will bring the total number of solar lighting systems installed across the two locations to five.
The labour-only contract is valued at SBD $3,060, with an estimated implementation period of six days.
The sub-project forms part of the CAUSE II Project’s broader support for community infrastructure, helping improve visibility around identified locations and contributing to more accessible public spaces.
Implemented by the Solomon Islands Government, the CAUSE II Project is supported by the World Bank and the Australian Government through the PNG and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
