The World Bank team, led by Resident Representative Bernard Harborne and CAUSE II Task Team Leader Ifeta Smajic, conducted a focused site visit today to observe progress under the Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement II (CAUSE II) Project. Joined by the Director of the Honiara City Council Waste Management Division and CAUSE II Project Managers, the team toured several active project sites, including the Vara Creek road restoration, Jacob Ladders upgrades, Vura Road and footpath near the National Stadium.

The visit highlighted the tangible impact CAUSE II is having on urban connectivity and sanitation in informal settlements. In particular, the team observed how community-based waste management efforts are being strengthened through improved infrastructure and targeted engagement.

The site visits reaffirmed the project’s commitment to inclusive, climate-resilient infrastructure and responsive service delivery in Honiara’s high-need areas. World Bank representatives commended the visible progress and reiterated continued support.

A broader portfolio review with all Project Management Units (PMUs) is being scheduled by the Ministry of Finance and Treasury for late November, with updates to follow.
