This initiative will enhance visibility and security for residents and businesses in Gizo, particularly at night, and demonstrates CAUSE II’s commitment to climate-resilient, community-driven development. The partnership also sets a new precedent for collaboration between provincial authorities, local governance bodies, and national development programs, strengthening local ownership and participation.

2. Solar Streetlights Brighten Gizo’s District Road
In a promising follow-up to the new partnership between CAUSE II and the Ward 11 WDC, installation of solar-powered streetlights along the District Road in Gizo is progressing rapidly.
As of 6th October 2025, six of the ten planned solar lights have been successfully erected, with the remaining four set for completion within the next two weeks. The project, driven through community collaboration, has already transformed the area by enhancing night-time safety for both pedestrians and motorists.
Community members have expressed gratitude to CAUSE II and the Ward 11 WDC for prioritizing projects that make everyday life safer and more convenient. The initiative also demonstrates the practical impact of renewable energy in reducing emissions, lowering energy costs, and supporting Solomon Islands’ climate resilience goals.
The solar-lighting project stands as a shining example of how CAUSE II continues to combine infrastructure improvement, local empowerment, and sustainable innovation across Western Province.
