Noro PIU Celebrates Infrastructure Milestones and Skills Training Success

The Noro Project Implementation Unit (PIU) in Western Province has made remarkable progress this week, completing three Community Access Infrastructure (CAI) subprojects that are already improving mobility and safety for local residents. Among the achievements was the successful boundary identification carried out by the Lands Department, paving the way for upcoming works such as the highly anticipated AOG Footpath.

A key highlight was the installation of solar-powered LED streetlights in Munda, Black Town, Mobil, Small Baru, Big Baru, and the Ports Area. These energy-efficient lights are set to enhance community safety while supporting the Solomon Islands’ push for climate-resilient and sustainable urban solutions.

In addition, the “Ready for Waka” training program continues to build momentum, with four batches of participants completing their courses alongside two support services training sessions. These initiatives are equipping youth and unemployed residents with essential skills for future employment opportunities.

With plans already in motion for further footpath construction and Batch 5 of training, the Noro PIU remains focused on delivering both infrastructure and inclusive community development.

The Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement II (CAUSE II) Project is a transformative initiative aimed at improving climate-resilient infrastructure, enhancing economic inclusion, and strengthening service delivery in targeted urban centers across the Solomon Islands.
