Noro Police Estate to Inner Koquporo Footpath nearing completion

NORO, Solomon Islands – THE Construction of the Noro Police Estate to Inner Koquporo Footpath under the Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement II (CAUSE II) Project is progressing steadily, with works now reaching 88 percent completion.

The 250-meter footpath project, which commenced on February 27, 2026, is expected to be completed by April 17, 2026. To date, more than 190 meters of the footpath have been successfully constructed, leaving approximately 30 meters remaining.

Despite the recent bad weather causing minor delays, Resident Work Supervisor (RSW) Titus Maina confirmed that overall progress remains positive, with both workers and project management expressing satisfaction with the pace and quality of work achieved so far.

“Our team is very eager to complete the final phase of the project. We are hopeful that weather conditions will improve over the coming days so work can continue without disruption.”

The footpath is expected to bring significant benefits to the local community, improving accessibility and safety for more than 300 residents traveling between Noro Police Estate and Inner Koquporo.

Community members have expressed strong support and appreciation for the development.

“We are truly grateful for this development project that will benefit everyone of us residing here.,” were sentiments echoed by community members.

With only a short section left to complete, the project team remains optimistic about meeting its timeline and delivering a finished climate-resilient footpath that will serve the community for years to come.

CAUSE II, implemented by the Solomon Islands Government, is supported by the World Bank and Australia through the PNG and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
