Steady Progress on Noro-Munda Footpath Works Despite Rain Challenges
The Noro/Munda Project Implementation Unit (PIU) under the Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement II (CAUSE II) Project continues to make significant progress, advancing key infrastructure works across Western Province.
As of the week ending 24 October 2025, the AOG Footpath has reached 50% completion of the 310-meter stretch, marking a major milestone in improving safe pedestrian access for local communities. Despite continuous rainfall throughout the week, work remained on track through careful coordination and dedicated efforts from the site team.
Meanwhile, construction has commenced on Segment 1 of the Lower Ports Area Footpath, which began on 20 October 2025. This project will provide better connectivity and safer walkways for residents and workers in the busy port area. Plans are in place to start Segment 2 (200 meters of the total 400 meters) on 27 October 2025, continuing momentum toward full completion.
At the same time, Batch 6 of the Ready for Waka (R4W) training is underway, empowering more local participants with skills and confidence to pursue future employment opportunities.
The Noro/Munda PIU remains committed to delivering quality, climate-resilient infrastructure that enhances accessibility, safety, and economic inclusion for communities across Western Province.
