CAUSE II 4th ISM Includes Visits to Project Implementation Sites

HONIARA, Solomon Islands – WORLD BANK representatives this week visited several Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement Project II (CAUSE II) implementation sites in Honiara as part of the Project’s ongoing 4th Implementation Support Mission (ISM).

The 4th ISM brings together the Solomon Islands Government, World Bank, Project partners and implementing agencies to review implementation progress, identify key priorities and agree on the next phase of Project activities.

During the Honiara site visits, a World Bank delegation, accompanied by staff from the CAUSE II Project Management Unit (PMU), visited four communities where sub-project works are currently underway.

The sites included the Antioch Stream Cleaning Project, Bethesda Disability Centre Footpath Project, Lower Jericho Footbridge Project and Grass Valley Footpath Project.

The site visits provided the delegation with an opportunity to observe works on the ground and engage with Project teams involved in delivering community-level infrastructure and services.

As part of the mission, the World Bank delegation will travel to Western Province over the weekend to visit additional CAUSE II implementation sites in Gizo and Noro, facilitated by the Project Implementation Units (PIUs) in both townships.

Meanwhile, CAUSE II is preparing to officially hand over 19 completed sub-projects to the Western Provincial Government and local communities during ceremonies scheduled for Gizo on 22 September and Noro on 23 September.

CAUSE II is implemented by the Solomon Islands Government with support from the World Bank and the Australian Government through the Papua New Guinea and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
