CAUSE II Strengthens Community Monitoring Through Point of Use Survey Training
HONIARA, Solomon Islands – THE Community Access and Urban Services Enhancement (CAUSE II) Project is strengthening its monitoring and evaluation capacity through a two-day Point of Use Survey (PoUS) training for its Community Liaison Officers (CLOs) and other project staff in Honiara.
The training, being conducted from 4 – 5 November, is led by the project's Survey Systems Consultant, Mr Lachlan Bruce, who brings more than 15 years of experience in survey systems, digital data collection, social research and monitoring and evaluation.
The Point of Use Surveys are designed to gather feedback directly from people using infrastructure supported by CAUSE II, including roads, footpaths, solar street lighting, markets and jetties.
Through the surveys, the project will collect information on how these improvements are affecting people's access, safety, travel and livelihoods, including comparisons of conditions before and after infrastructure improvements.
During the training, participants are being introduced to the survey tools and digital data collection processes, including the use of Kobo Toolbox to record and manage survey information.
Mr Bruce will also support the development of survey procedures and a monitoring dashboard to help the project track and present survey findings.
The information gathered through the Point of Use Surveys will contribute to strengthening project monitoring and provide important evidence ahead of the CAUSE II Mid-Term Review scheduled for May 2027.
Implemented by the Solomon Islands Government, the CAUSE II Project is supported by the World Bank and the Australian Government through the PNG and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
