Work on CAUSE II Auki R4W Training Centre Progressing

AUKI, Malaita Province – A NEW Training facility under the CAUSE II Project is taking shape in Auki, promising to expand opportunities for skills development and community support.

The new Redi4Waka (R4W) training venue is now 60% complete, and will serve as a central hub for training, support services and program delivery and implementation. Once complete, the Centre will include training classrooms, office space for trainers and facilities for social support services.

Resident Work Supervisor (RWS) for the Auki Project Implementation Unit (PIU), Joe Ruriti stated, “The newly constructed facility marks a major step forward for the CAUSE II Project in Malaita, providing a dedicated space to deliver training programs and strengthen local capacity.

“It also reflects growing demand for structured learning and employment pathways within the community. When completed, the Centre will not only support ongoing training but also help build long-term resilience by equipping participants with practical skills for income generation and community development,” Mr Ruriti highlighted.

The new training Centre is on course to be completed by the end of June (2026).

Meanwhile, CAUSE II had recently completed a two-day training workshop on Income Generating Money Management (IGMM) for 24 Redi4Waka participants in Auki.

The training introduced participants to the basics of business planning and financial management. It helped participants better understand how to manage and grow income-generating activities.

According to the Project’s Auki PIU, the two-day sessions have been overwhelmingly positive, with participants describing it as transformative, and many expressing interest in attending further training.

Implemented by the Solomon Islands Government, CAUSE II is supported by the World Bank and the Australian Government through the PNG and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund. The project aims to improve urban infrastructure, strengthen climate resilience, and expand employment opportunities across key urban centres in Solomon Islands.
