CAUSE II Kerb Painting Works Expand Across Kukum Corridor

KERB Painting works under the CAUSE II Project have resumed with a second phase of road safety improvements now underway along the Kukum corridor.

Over the next 20 days, CAUSE II participants will repaint kerbs at 11 key junctions and high-traffic locations stretching from the Guadalcanal Province junction to the Kukum Roundabout exit. The works include sites near Pacific Casino Hotel, Kukum Traffic Police Station, Labourline, Kwaimani Building, Woodford International School, SINU Kukum, Panatina Plaza, Fielders and the G Gas Refill Station.

The initiative is part of the project’s ongoing commitment to improving road visibility, enhancing pedestrian and motorist safety, and creating a cleaner and more organised urban environment throughout Honiara.

A total of more than one kilometre of kerb line will be repainted during this phase, helping to improve traffic guidance at busy intersections and access points across the city.

Delivered under Component 2: Safe and Inclusive Communities, the works are being carried out by participants of the Redi4Waka Programme, providing practical work experience, skills development and income-earning opportunities while contributing to community improvements.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and slow down when approaching active work sites.

Implemented by the Solomon Islands Government, the CAUSE II Project is supported by the World Bank and the Australian Government through the PNG and Pacific Islands Umbrella Facility Multi-Donor Trust Fund.
